Shankracharya Temple: Shankracharya Temple built by the son of Emperor Ashoka, Jaluka around 200 BC has now become the major tourist attraction. It is the ancient shrine nestled in the Shankracharya hill at an altitude of 1100 feet high at the south east of Srinagar. Tourists can have the splendid views of the gorgeous valley and the mountains of pir panjal range. The ancient shrine can be easily accessible by taxis.

The world’s second highest cable cars, gondola at 3,800 meters high offers panoramic views. Tourists can even experience the thrill of river rafting, and fishing at Pahalgam. Sonamarg is another major destination from where you can explore the spectacular view of the mountain glacier and it takes about 2 hours of drive from Srinagar.

Srinagar experiences two major season’s winter and summer. Winter begins from the month of October and remains till March. Srinagar receives heavy snowfall and the minimum temperature goes below o degree and maximum only about 15 degree Celsius. Winter is followed by summer. It is from April to September. The minimum temperature is 14 degree and maximum is 30 degree Celsius. The best time to visit is from the month of April to October. 

How to reach

There are regular flights from all the major states of India to Srinagar. The recently opened Srinagar Airport is well connected to almost all the major cities of the state. Jammu is the nearest railway station to Srinagar and is located at a distance of 290 kilometers from Srinagar. Tourists can hire the taxi from the station and reach up to Srinagar.
